These are some of my new favorite things–Iotacons by Andy Rash.
On his blog, Mr. Rash explains that, “Iotacons are extremely low resolution portraits.” I think they are awesome! They are creative, funny and witty. Check out some of my favorites…

Who doesn’t love Star Wars (except my husband)? Did you notice how the characters change over the three lines…and how Vader loses his hand on the last line. He did the individual episodes separately as well. You can find them here: Empire Strikes Back, A New Hope, Return of the Jedi.

The Ghostbusters…love it! Proton packs and all.

Really can’t go wrong with Back to the Future. Check out the DeLorean.

And, of course, Office Space. I used to work in a place kinda like that. Did you fill out your TPS Report?

Last one…A Christmas Story. Classic! Love the leg lamp! Its not Christmas till we’ve watched A Christmas Story…and Christmas Vacation.
I love that these tiny pixelated images still manage to portray each character. He also has done individual portraits. His work has appeared in Fortune Magazine, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He has also written and illustrated children’s books. You can find an amazon bio of Andy Rash here.
I was first introduced to these awesome Iotacons while searching for ideas for a Star Wars Quilt. I have two Star Wars quilts in the works right now using Andy Rash’s designs (I’ve received permission from him, so please ask before you go taking his designs). I think these translate really well into Quilt blocks, but there are also examples of crossstitch, paper art and even building murals featuring his designs. Again, please speak with him before undertaking a project.
You can find Andy Rash’s work at the following addresses. Go check him out.

First thing I thought when I saw these was, “Cross-stitch patterns.”
I know! They are perfect for cross-stitch. He has a few examples of work that people have done with his designs. Too cool!
Wow! So cool! Can’t wait to see the finished product!!!
